Graduate School

The Graduate School within the Humanism Project facilitates an interdisciplinary research and study program for young researchers in the humanities and cultural studies. More precisely it offers them support in their work on their PhD thesis and in the process providing them with the opportunity of networking both within their own countries and globally.

The program of the Graduate School is set up and monitored by the scholars of the KWI participating in the Humanism Project or come from the cooperating universities of Bochum, Dortmund, Duisburg-Essen and Witten/Herdecke.

Well-known scholars from other universities, both nation-wide and international, are invited for lectures, seminars and conferences for the purpose of conducting in-house workshops with the collegiates. Currently ten doctoral students of the Graduate School are receiving a grant from the Stiftung Mercator. Also the School involves a larger circle of associated graduates.

The composition of the group is along intercultural, interdisciplinary and international lines. Beyond this, short-term scholarship holders from other countries are invited to participate in the college for a three-month period, such as recently from South Africa, Britain and China.
